Happy Hobbit Day and Autumnal Equinox

Yesterday was such a fabulous day! It was Frodo and Bilbo's birthdays and the beginning of Fall. I am so excited to see the leaves change color and the days get nippy and cold. I have missed this seasonal transition for 3 years and I can't wait!!

We celebrated the day with Hobbitish food, sort of. I kind of forgot the date until half way through the day. I had already planned spaghetti for the meal and wasn't going to change that. We did add a butternut squash from the garden, some Sprite in place of wine and spirits and a seed cake. I learned that my children do not like Hobbitish food so much. Next year will be different. I'll think of some things that they will be willing to eat. They all enjoyed the 'spirits' at least, but sadly Brenna and I will have to snarf the seed cake ourselves. Life is so tough!

You know how I ended up celebrating Hobbits day? I saw a movie in my class about how to fight aging. It was narrarated by Ian Homes himself. I didn't think of the irony of his ring and it's Fountain of Youth qualities until later.
With class and Pack Meeting that is as Hobbitish as it got dang it!!!
