There is one point in the game where you have to fall down a hole and you just know there is a spider waiting for you at the bottom. I jumped down the hole screaming (real life screaming, not just animated Link doing the screaming) and began flailing the remotes before I even hit the bottom. The spider was there and it was armored. I could not kill it! For a good three minutes I tried to kill this thing and I was getting very worried. My arms were getting tired so I knew I could not keep up the frantic swinging motions required to keep the fell arachnid at bay. I was honestly quite terrified for poor Link who was going to get bitten by this huge spider because my puny arms did not have enough stamina to kill the beast. I almost gave the remote to Lauren to swing for a while so I could recover my strength to kill the spider. The thought didn't occur to me that I could just push pause and catch my breath. It was far too real. They really should use the game in therapy for patients with arachnophobia, though I have a feeling a lot of television sets and Wii remotes would be ruined in the process.

Much to Spencer and Lauren's relief, as well as my own, I succeeded in killing the thing, where upon I took a much needed potty break and got my hands to stop shaking.
Needless to say, we do not like spiders at my house. That is why it amuses me that my kids decided to build a spider web in our family room. Here they are the proud web builders. The beads are supposed to be the flies and bugs stuck in the web.

You know, they actually have gone to using some virtual reality to help git rid of phobias for people who are not too good at exposure therapy (where you gradually are exposed to the object you are afraid of). It seems to work pretty well from what I hear, but then again I am not THAT type of Psychologist. I wonder how it could help to get rid of my phobia of potlucks? See, I have had this problem since I was young - if I do not see the food cooked it kind of creeps me out what could be in it. Now I know what you are wondering...can I eat at restaurants? The answer is yes, with no problem. I am not sure why I have more trust in them than the people at church. :) But I do. So when I go to potluck type events I make sure to pick what I consider the safest food, which is generally the bread and cookie type items, they do not scare me that much. I guess I will just have to live with it. Now, I am going to try to go back to bed, as I am having a bout of insomnia. Have a great day, and let me know what Ben thought of the house!
So cute. All they need is to have their Link hats on. As to the previous comment made by allison, the problem I have with church potlucks is knowing the condition of some of the kitchens the food came from. That is what I call scary!
Rebekah, you make me think we really need a Wii. They are so fun. I can't imagine how fun it would to be swinging a sword through the Wii system I only got to bowl, box and golf. I think sword fighting would be a total blast.
Allsion, in restaurants they have food handling licenses. At least they know what they are supposed to be doing to keep things clean.
Oh I love the terrified look on Spence's face. And you need to take that spider picture down...it creeps me out. Ugh. Ian used to have a LOTR game with spiders on it. I had to leave the room when it was on. It gave me massive nightmares. I don't really have arachnophobia(sp?) it's more fear of spider nightmares.
Yes, potlucks can be a bit harry. Ben did like the house, but again the area does not take us any closer to family. ;)
You should definitely get a Wii, Kristin. The sword fighting was fun if not terrifying.
I'll take the picture down soon. It creeps me out too.
